The app can be configured so that users can create items of another app with automatically pre-filled values on its form. This would allow, for example, users to create related documents on a contract form and fill in their fields according to the contract data.
For this purpose, fields of the App-type are used with the Default values for new items option. For a full description of all available settings, read App data type.
Set up values for the fields of new items
Let's look at how to set default field values, using contracts and related certificates as an example:
- In the Contract app form settings, add a field of the App type and select the Certificates app in its settings.
- Click Default values for new items.

- In the window that opens, set up the fields that you want to be filled out automatically. Select a field in the Certificates column and add a corresponding field in the Parent column. In our case, the parent item is the contract.
For example, the Certificates app has the Contract number field that needs to contain the number of the corresponding contract. Add this field to the Certificates column. In the Parent column, select the Contract number field of the Contracts app.
You can also specify a specific value so that it will be the same for all created items.

- Complete the field settings and click Save.
Now, users can create related certificates on the form for a new or existing contract, and the specified fields will be pre-filled automatically.
If you want the certificate to be added to the system only with the contract, you can also use the Bound app option. For more information, see Bound apps.
How default field filling works
To pre‑fill the fields of the created certificate based on the contract data:
- Open the contract creation or editing form and ensure that the fields from which the data will be transferred to the act are filled.
- To the right of the Certificate field, click + Create.

The certificate creation page will open. All the selected fields will be pre-filled according to the contract’s data.
- Add a file and click Save.
The created certificate will appear in the Certificates app and will be displayed in the contract page.
