Chat with live chat operators

The widget allows BRIX users or external portal users to write to the internal live chat from the app item form.

For example, a user asks a question on the portal. On its page, they can contact the live chat with a question. Then a session is automatically created in BRIX, and the operator assigned to the live chat responds to the question.

The chat is available to the user on the request page. They can send files, edit, copy or quote messages.

Preliminary settings

To enable users to write to the live chat from the Chat with live chat operators widget, configure the following settings:

  1. Define the app where users will communicate. For example, this could be the Requests app for storing requests from external users on the portal.
  2. Link the selected app to the live chat. To do this, go to the Administration > Live Chats workspace, open the settings for the desired live chat, and specify the app in the To register messages field.
  3. Give users access to the live chat. To do this, specify the desired user groups in the Internal field in the live chat settings. For example, select the External users group, which will be able to write in the chat from the portal.

On the request page in the Chat with live chat operators widget, the user will see the live chats linked to the app and available to them for requests. They will be able to select a live chat and send a message to the operator.

  1. Make sure that users with access to the live chat from the widget also have access permissions to view the app items.

Then place the widget on an app form.

Add the widget to an app form

  1. Open the app item view form in the interface designer.
  2. To work more conveniently with the chat, create a separate tab on the form. Drag the widget from the right-side panel of the designer onto it or click the +Widget button. For more information on placing widgets on app forms, see the Form templates article.
  3. In the opened window, on the Events and System tabs, set the widget visibility settings, cursor behavior, styles, etc. For more information, see the System widget settings article.
  4. Save the settings.
  5. To make the widget available to users, click the Save button on the top panel of the interface designer, and then click Publish.
