Generate document from template

BRIX supports automatic generation of documents from templates, such as contracts, certificates, invoices, or applications.

A document template is a file in .docx, .xlsx, or another format containing special functions and variables. When a document is generated, system data automatically fills these variables.

For example, when closing a deal, a sales rep does not need to draft a contract manually or manually fill in order details, amounts, or company details. BRIX populates this data directly from the item form to create the final document, saving time and preventing errors.

How document generation works

The document generation workflow includes three steps:

  1. Create a template file.

Prepare a document and add variables and functions to it. For details, see:

  1. Upload the template to the system.

You can add the file to the company-level template list, upload it to a workspace or app, or pass it directly into a process using a Files type variable. For details, see Add and set up a document template.

  1. Configure automatic document generation.

Model a business process that generates the output document. Use dedicated process blocks for this purpose:

  • Generate from Template. Uses a template pre-uploaded to a company, workspace, or app.
  • Generate from File. Uses a template uploaded to a Files type variable from the process or app context. This is useful when you need to apply different templates within the same process depending on the document type.
