# Send a plan for approval

> [HTML Version](send-plan-for-approval.html)

In this article, we will look at how plan approval and publication are carried out when the **Project Plan Approval** system process is used in the[ project type settings](plan-approval-setting.md).

To send a finished plan draft for approval, do the following:

1. On the project page, open the **Project Schedule** tab and click the **Edit** button.

2. On the toolbar, click **For Approval**.

3. A window for sending the plan for approval opens. Specify whether the plan needs to be published automatically when it is approved. If you select **No** in the **Publish after approval** field, the plan will need to be published manually.

4. Click **Send the Plan for Approval**.

As soon as you do it:

- The plan is assigned the **Pending approval** status.

- The name of the **Approver** will be displayed next to the plan status.

- The **Approver** will receive a task to approve the plan.

## Plan approval task

A project plan is approved by the employee specified in the [approval settings](plan-approval-setting.md). When a plan is sent for approval, this user is assigned a task that includes the following data:

- The project name and the number of the plan version sent for approval.

- The author of the task as well as the date and time it was created.

- The project plan.

The approver can view any plan task. To do that, hover over the task name, click the three dots icon, and select **Open**.

If the current version of the plan has been sent for approval before and was rejected, information about this will be shown in the activity stream. You can view comments about the previous decisions by opening the approval sheets.

Complete the task by choosing one of the following options:

- **Approve**. Allow for the plan to be published.

- **Reject**. Specify the reason for rejection. The user who created the task will see a notification with this comment. The plan version status will change back to **Draft**.

If the plan version is approved, its status changes to **Approved**. An approved version can be published. If the task author selected **Yes** in the [Publish after approval](send-plan-for-approval.md#publish-setting) field, the plan will be published automatically.
