# Apps in BRIX

An** app** is a BRIX component intended for creating and storing app items and business processes. For example, the **Contacts** app stores data about legal entities, their addresses, phone numbers, etc. Each added company will be an item of this app.

You can associate business processes with an app. In this case, data stored in the app will be automatically sent to the tasks assigned to users during the process execution. At each process stage, employees will receive all the information that they need to perform their tasks and make decisions.

It is convenient to group all apps used to handle related tasks in one workspace. For example, the **Contacts**, **Leads**, and **Deals **sales apps are added to the **CRM** workspace by default. Such apps are called [built-in apps](system-workspaces.md) and are ready to be used.

## Actions with apps

In apps, you can:

- Create [app items](360016427291.md) (entries).

- Configure [custom forms](360028941032.md) for item creation, viewing, and editing** **pages.

- Generate an [app item name](360007679591.md) from a template.

- [Configure access](360007527512.md) to the app and its items.

- [Model business processes](360012265552.md).

- [Add action buttons](360019229331.md).

- Configure app [item statuses](360009920611.md), which can be changed in a business process or manually.

- [Change the list and order](360009705932.md) of apps in a workspace.

- [Export](360009264480.md) and [import](360009354059.md) data.

Please note that the system can save the history of changes to certain app settings. If this option is enabled, app versions are created.
