Create a solution from scratch

A solution can include workspaces, custom modules, and pages created at the company level. Keep the following rules in mind:

  • Individual built-in apps from a built-in workspace can be included in multiple solutions.
  • An entire built-in workspace with all its apps, a custom workspace, a module, or a page can be included in only one solution. This prevents component duplication and errors when the solution is exported later.

Before exporting a solution, you can allow properties to be added to forms of a locked app included in the solution. To do this, configure the app context extension.

For more information about creating custom solutions, see Build solutions in BRIX.

To add a new solution, follow these steps:

Step 1: Create a solution

  1. On the Administration > Manage Solutions page, click +Solution in the upper right corner and select Create in the opened window. Then on the opened form, specify the name and description of the solution; you can enable the Paid option. Please note, that in the future when exporting the solution, this data will be automatically added to the export form.

On the opened form, click + Workspace. The field that appears lists all system and custom workspaces that are not included in other solutions. Select a workspace and click Add.

The solution includes all components of the added workspace: apps, pages, separators, links, business processes, and other components.

Add a built-in workspace

You can include the following in a solution:

  • An entire built-in workspace. The solution includes all apps, as well as business processes and widgets associated with the workspace. An entire system workspace can be added to only one solution.

  • Individual apps from a built-in workspace. To select them, disable Add the entire workspace to the solution. If the system workspace contains a custom app, it can be added to only one solution.

The app is included in the solution with its context, associated processes and widgets. If the solution does not require every custom field, select only the required fields. Click the pencil icon next to the app name to choose fields.

Step 3: Add pages to the solution

You can include pages created within the company in your solution. To do this, click +Page or the plus icon next to the Pages title and select a page from the list.

Each page with its widgets can only be added to one solution.

Step 4: Add modules to the solution

Include custom modules in the solution. To do this, click +Module or the plus icon next to Modules, then select a module from the list.

Each module can be added to only one solution. In this case, the solution will include all module components: parameters, widgets, API methods, business process activities, event handlers etc.

Please note, that after importing into another company, you can edit the module that is included in the free solution.

Actions with the created solution

After completing all the steps, save the settings. The solution is ready.

Now you can export it, set a password, delete, edit or update it. To do this, click Settings next to the solution name in the list and select the appropriate action.

Manage solution versions

If structure versioning is enabled in the system, you can manually capture a solution version after creating the solution.

A solution version includes the current versions of its components: workspaces, modules, widgets, processes, and pages created at the company level. It also stores the solution settings, including its name, description, and paid status.

If changes are later made to workspaces, modules, widgets, or other solution components and an error occurs, you can quickly restore a previous solution version. For details, see Manage configuration versions.
